“If you want to feel rich just count the things you have that money can’t buy!”
2018 was a particularly hard year for many reasons. As it came to a close I was trying to focus on the positive things that had happened. It was only by going through the gallery on my phone that I was actually reminded of all the happy times.
This got me thinking, why is it easier to remember the difficult times? I’d heard of people keeping memory jars, and whenever a happy memory was made they’d write it down on a piece of paper and put it in the jar. At the end of the year, they would take the papers out and remember all the good things.
I thought about doing it over the past few years but never got around to it. I’ve always loved taking photos and back in 2014 took part in the 100 days of happiness challenge. Every day for 100 days I took a photo of something that made me happy. It wasn’t designed for big announcements or showing off, but for the small things that we maybe take for granted.
I wanted to combine these 2 ideas and throw into the mix my new found skills in software design and development. The Happiness Project is my online happy jar, it’s my way of capturing photos and videos of all the things that have made me happy in 2019.
One year from today I want to be able to look back at all the happy memories that have made my 2019 amazing. My journey starts here, so why not join me?
